About Us

Our Mission

When you suffer from arthritis, everyday tasks may become difficult. Favorite hobbies may become a thing of the past. And worries about the future may cloud the present. Simply put, it can feel like arthritis is in control of your life.

We would like to change that at Arthritis.com. We’ve made it our mission to help you take control of life with arthritis. How? By creating a home for arthritis education, empowerment, and support.

  • Education

We're committed to providing some of the arthritis information you need to understand your condition and—more importantly—make more informed treatment decisions.

  • Empowerment

We empower you to take an active role in your care. That means informing you about the different treatment options and providing the tools and resources you need to feel comfortable sharing your questions, fears, and aspirations with your doctor.

  • Support

We offer the holistic support you need when arthritis impacts more than just pain in your joints. From nutrition tips, to relationship advice, to articles on spirituality—our goal is to help you navigate arthritis in your daily life.

Our Editorial Board and Contributors

At Arthritis.com, we’re dedicated to understanding that the perspectives of people living with arthritis are reflected in everything we do. That’s why we created the Arthritis.com Editorial Board. The board is made up of members of the arthritis community, including people living with arthritis, experts in rheumatology, and patient advocates. Each member’s role is to review content before it is posted on our site to help ensure that it is relevant, accurate, appropriate, and—most importantly—meets the needs of the arthritis community.

We also feature guest contributors, including real people living with arthritis and topic experts. They routinely contribute to our site, offering unique perspectives and advice on an array of topics—from parenthood, to relationships, to nutrition.

Mariah Leach
Editorial Board & Contributor

Patient Advocate and Blogger Living with RA

When Mariah was just 25 years old, she began experiencing joint pain, swelling, and fatigue and was soon diagnosed with RA. Since that time, Mariah has worked to empower others living with RA and raise awareness about the disease through her blog. After experiencing the challenges of pregnancy and motherhood with RA firsthand, Mariah has become particularly passionate about providing support for women with chronic illnesses who are or want to become mothers.

In addition to her blog, Mariah writes for several websites, participates in advocacy efforts through the Arthritis Foundation and Seth’s 50 State Network, and manages a Facebook support group for mothers living with chronic illnesses.

Stephanie Aleite
Editorial Board & Contributor

Patient Advocate and Blogger Living with RA

Stephanie was diagnosed with juvenile RA when she was just five years old. Since then, Stephanie has made it her life's mission to inspire and support others who are living with the condition through her blog—a personal narrative about the “emotional side effects of being young, disabled, and fabulous.” She finds fulfillment in speaking publicly about her journey with RA, the value of effective doctor-patient communication, and emotion-focused coping. Stephanie is determined to live life to the fullest and refuses to let her illness stop her from having hopes and dreams for her future.
